This is what has happened as at Fri 14 September 2018.

We held a 'Drought Catch Up' Night in the Coonabarabran Town Hall on Fri 10 August

  • There were approx 200 there.

  • We gave 62 people $6,200 in $100 Visa cards  -  Two people only declined this contribution

  • We have a further $800 on hand (updated to $3,800 by 20 August) to catch up with others who are recommended to us, or to hold for another drought related purpose.

  • We were pleased to see that people were happy to take away the hampers, the bags of toiletries provided by the Catholic ladies, the dog food provided by Joyce and Mark Stewart, and a fair heap of the Sanitarium products.

  • The lamb jumpers and other knitted items added a colourful display.

  • The music was great.

  • BlazeAid in particular gathered a good deal of information.

  • We had plenty to eat and drink. A good night was enjoyed by all!

As more donations are expected in the coming weeks, we are working out ideas of how best to cater for the needs of farming families and businesses, within the limits of our resources.

We received a visit from 11 people from the Rotary Club of West Pennant Hills/Cherrybrook on 1-3 September.

  • We visited various sites in the district  -  Sandstone caves, Pilliga Pottery, Siding Spring, the Warrumbungles National Park, the Information Centre, Crystal Kingdom.

  • They contributed generously to the economy of the community in many ways!

  •  At our Rotary meeting on Mon 3 Sept, they acknowledged with a certificate their very generous gift to our Drought Fund, raised at their annual Trivia night, and given by an anonymous donor.

  • Many friendships were started, and will continue without a doubt.  Hopefully a return visit can be arranged, and a 'sister club' relationship established to further enrich the relationship between city and country clubs.

We have now received enough donations to offer more support to farming families and those in rural related occupations. Download the application form here.
